I have successfully completed my 7 day juice detox using the 7lbs in 7 days plan by Jason Vale! Yay! I feel very alert today, way more energetic and ready to take on my study for my final exam next week.
For this week I will also be taking part in the Big Juice Clean Detox by Jason Vale, however this week is based on the Juice Yourself Slim book. That means I will be enjoying some delicious home made soups and some yummy salads this week. What I really enjoyed when I did the juice detox back in January was that all foods seem to taste so much better and stronger afterwards. I really appreciated my foods a lot more and enjoyed them in a completely new way.
Last night I felt very tired but that was probably because we had done 2 hours 15 minutes of running earlier in the day in preparation for the New York Marathon in November this year. We had also included a circuit workout, because there was all this stations with cross trainers, arm strength and belly strength along the way. This morning I was a fair bit sore but I feel brilliant now. I made sure to give my body the rest it needed after yesterday's workout and had 9 hours of sleep! Wow that was so good and so much needed. I am very energetic today which is great for my exam preparation plus later on I might throw in another run outside to give my body some fresh air and well deserved movement after all the study today.
Today I got to enjoy 4 juices/smoothies and I wanted to share one of my new found favourites; the sweet veggie juice recipe.
To make this irresistable juice you will need the following:
3 apples
1 celery stick
1/4 zucchini
1/4 cucumber
1/4 yellow capsicum
1/4 lemon
1cm piece of ginger
Juice all of the above and enjoy! The easiest way I find to juice is to pack most of the produce between the apples to give it more stability and therefore you extract more of the juices. What I love about this juices, besides that it tastes just amazing considering it's a mostly veggie based juice, all the ingredients are actually great cleansers for the body!
What are your favourite veggie juices? What are you favourite veggie juice recipes? Have you recently completed a detox and how did you go?
I am now on Day 5 of my detox and I am feeling better every day. I can notice also my energy levels picking up and my mind is becoming sharper too just in time for my exam study.
Tomorrow will be an interesting day because we have been invited to 1st birthday so there will be a lot of food around, no doubts there. My plan is to quickly stop by at spudshed on the way, which is at the markets where we buy all our fruit and veggies, and I had the though of getting some additional avocados and bananas to take along with me. I will also take some herbal tea with me just in case to ensure successful completion of this week. The last thing I want is to be so close to finishing and sabotaging it.
Today I am going to share the recipe of the Detox Smoothie I enjoyed for dinner last night.
You will need the following ingredients:
1/4 of a pineapple (I personally prefer to juice it with the skin off)
1 celery stick
one inch cucumber
one handfull of spinach
one small piece of lime (peeled)
two apples
1/4 avocado
To make this detox smoothie first juice everything apart from the avocado.
Then put the juice in the blender with the avocado and blend until smooth.
Even if you cannot picture doing a detox which includes this many juices and smoothies plus a little fruit, just imagine what a difference in your health it would make if you just included one of those smoothies at the beginning of each day.
What are your favourite juice recipes? Have you completed one of Jason Vale's detoxes before?
On Monday I started the Big Juice Spring Clean. The whole Jason Vale community is taking part in a two week juice and smoothie detox, however in the second week the plan slowly introduces soups as well as fresh salads back into the diet.
There is tons of people with their main motivation weight loss. Personally for me I just want to continue on my path to health and wellbeing where this is another step, this time a two week program. Some of you might know that I completed the 7lbs in 7 days program early this year. I am not going to pretend and have to say it was tough the first few days back in January. However once you get to about day 4 and especially days 6 and 7 you just feel amazing. This buzzing feeling of energy that is flowing in your body is truly beautiful.
I remember during the last one we had so much energy towards the end that we even ended up running in the sand along the beach (which would usually be a pretty tough workout but it was perfect).
Below is Jason making one of his awesome juices
I am now on the third day but feeling quite tired today. This time I also notice that I am a lot more active and that my body seems to demand a little more. Therefore I am taking the option of having the occasional avocado or banana or at times even an apple.
I am already looking forward to getting further into the week because I know I will feel outstanding, ready to take on anything!
Jason Vale is one of my biggest role models and I truly admire his work and commitment to introduce more people to juicing. Therefore I have decided once I have completed my CPA studies, for which I am currently doing my last unit, I will be undertaking Jason Vale's Juice Therapy Course. Because juicing was where my journey originally began and it has done so much for my health that I would love to share this with everyone I meet.
Who is your role model when it comes to juicing? Do you have any other role models when it comes to health and wellness?
Here is my daily update on the 7 Day Juice Detox based on Jason Vale's book 7lbs in 7 days.
I think at the beginning of the week I couldn't imagine that I would actually feel quite full having only a juice towards the end of the week. I also find that the juices seem to taste better and better every day and I am really enjoying them slowly whereas I used to just quickly drink them. I have also started back with my running program this morning along the beach but I will tell you in another blog post exactly what the next phase of my running consists of. My body feels really healthy and full of energy! I am already looking forward to tomorrow which is the day when I get to try out the Juice Master Lemonade recipe, which is actually only made of apples and lemon!
Today I thought I show you how I end my day by lying down on my yantra mat; it is so good and relaxes me before I go to bed. If you get a chance to try this acupressure mat; give it a go and see what you reckon :)
It's already Day 4 of the Juice Detox! Feeling amazing and pumped. My energy seems to be increasing on a fast level; I actually felt a little high this morning probably because I am currently on juice drugs :) I had this massive grin on my face all morning and just felt very happy!
I have recently decided that from the 9th January until the 16th January 2012 I will be taking part in the World's Biggest Juice Detox or as I would call it cleanse.
As part of this I will be drinking juices and smoothies for a whole week in order to improve my health and to have a positive effect on my training for the New York Marathon in November 2012.
In case that you would like to support me in raising $15,000 for the Heart Foundation in 2012 by running the New York Marathon please check out My Fundraising Website! Thank you so much for your support!
