Tonight I had a lighter dinner than usual; homemade hummus with celery and carrot sticks. Oh yum! As simple as this may sound it was very satisfying especially after tonight's run plus I still felt energised afterwards because it wasn't one of those too heavy dinners.
As mentioned in my previous posts sesame seeds are packed with calcium and to me they are a superfood! An affordable superfood may I add! Plus sesame seeds also contain magnesium and B vitamins. So another easy way you can give your food a real boost is to add tahini!
Here is the recipe to make tahini in your Thermomix:
- 200g hulled sesame seeds
- 30g sesame oil
- First you dry roast the sesame seeds by adding it to the bowl for 10 minutes on 100 degrees speed 1.
- Next mill the sesame seeds for 25 seconds on speed 10.
- Scrape down the sides, add the sesame oil and blend for another 10 seconds on speed 9.
- Repeat step 3. until nice and smooth.
I can highly recommend making your own tahini with your Thermomix; you know exactly what is in your food and it is much easier than you think.
Enjoy!
